Here’s a simple yet very flavorful side dish that complements any main
course—casual or holiday. Fresh herbs and garlic combine with crisp, buttery
breadcrumbs to turn simple steamed cauliflower into a deliciously savory side.
Note: If you don't have a large steamer pan, simply bring about two inches of water to a boil in a pot, reduce the heat, and simmer the cauliflower until just tender, about six minutes, depending on the size of the florets. Drain, and you're ready to go.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 oz torn baguette bread (or other firm, crusty bread)
- 1 tsp chopped flat-leaf parsley
- 1 tsp chopped fresh oregano
- 1 tsp chopped fresh sage
- 1 garlic clove, chopped
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- sea salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 5 cups cauliflower florets

- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and add the butter. When the
butter has melted, add the breadcrumb mixture and season with salt and pepper.

- Meanwhile, bring water to a simmer in a steamer pan. Add the cauliflower
and season with salt. Steam until just tender, 7-8 minutes, depending on size.
